Based on the iconic Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game, Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine as the lead of an ensemble cast that also includes Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. Meanwhile, Scream 6 will see Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega reprise their respective roles as Sam and Tara Carpenter, the leads of the fifth installment of the horror franchise that effectively rebooted the film series and passed the torch to a new generation of characters.

Previously slated to release on March 3, 2023, Paramount Pictures has announced that Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has been pushed back to March 31, 2023. The film takes over the original release date of the unofficially titled Scream 6, which is now slated for a March 10, 2023, debut in theaters. While Paramount’s schedule shuffling marks the first release date change for Scream 6, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has changed release dates multiple times. Originally scheduled for a July 2021 debut, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was pushed to November of the same year and then again to May 2022, the latter shuffle being the result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will follow a band of adventurers led by a charming thief as they embark on a quest to retrieve a lost relic. Naturally, the heist suffers a setback when the group crosses paths with dangerous people. Scream 6, on the other hand, is still a relative mystery plot-wise, but in addition to Ortega and Barrera, Courteney Cox will reprise her Scream franchise role as Gale Weathers. However, Cox will be the only returning veteran due to the death of David Arquette’s character in Scream 5 and Neve Campbell’s decision to sit out the new sequel over salary disputes.
While the absence of Campbell’s Sidney Prescott may be hard for longtime fans of the franchise to accept, Scream 6 will be moving to New York City, marking the first time the film series will take the Ghostface killing action outside of Woodsboro since the third installment. So, it appears the Scream franchise is trying to set its own identity with its new cast of characters, meaning the original stars of the film series were likely on their way out anyway.
Meanwhile, the Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer was received well enough to warrant some goodwill from fans despite previous efforts to adapt the material into a feature film failing in the eyes of most fans. Whether or not Honor Among Thieves and Scream 6 will be worth the wait remains to be seen.
Scream 6 is slated to hit theaters on March 10, 2023, while Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is scheduled to release in theaters on March 31, 2023.
